Single Mum’s Business Network.
You’d be forgiven for thinking that the Single Mum’s Business Network (SMBN) was a profitable business aimed at selling networking tickets for single mum’s in business.
But when you look a little closer you will learn that it is a private members club that is much more about empowerment than it is about networking.
Julie Hawkins, the founder of SMBN fought solo as a single mum in business. She put the network together because she wanted to help her sisters, who she knew would likely be battling the same challenges that she had endured.
She knew that together they would be more powerful, aka empowered and that she could demonstrate the beauty of women supporting women without profit being the driving factor.
How does the network work?
Julie charges members a monthly, nominal £5 membership fee, so that they all contribute to greater exposure without feeling like they are asking for charity, as is already the stigma faced by many single parents.
For this nominal fee they are included in magazines that are distributed nationally to a range of businesses, public bodies and at exhibitions where possible.
Julie pays for professional PR and SEO optimisation and makes a lot of noise, to not only help members gain exposure to their businesses, but to help to reduce stigma, challenge misconceptions and help people understand that it is the barriers between work and childcare that fuel the benefits culture, rather than work shy parents.
With annual national awards, nominations for the 2021 awards open on November 29th, 2020, and the ceremony will be tied in with the second National Conference for Single Mums in Business in October 2021.
Google Single Mums Business Network and you will soon find her site dominating page 1. There is also an intro event for shy newbies on Wednesday 11th November. Eventbrite link HERE
So who is Julie Hawkins?
As well as being one of my absolute favourite human beings, Julie is an award-winning businesswoman, co-founder of Find Your Power 2021, author of Finding Happiness and Freeing Your Spirit and a visionary.
She wants nothing more than to empower other women to be the best version of themselves, so that they can in turn have a positive effect on their environment.
The ripple affect of happiness and kindness is the only real currency.
“Empowered women empower women. We do not belittle, make derogatory comments or stand on each other for our own gain. We look out for each other, and we treat as we like to be treated. That’s how we do business”.
EMPOWERMENT HOUSE could not agree more Jules. Keep doing what you are doing lady.
